We're Going NUTS!

We read about the Squirrel's Store today, where they sold nuts in different sized groups.

We made our own nut stores, some complete with price lists and signs, where we sold nuts in groups. Then we had fun 'shopping' together from each other's stores.

Play with number helps children understand grouping, value, skip counting, addition and more. Playing shops is a great way to help number knowledge and understanding grow at home.

Baking Bread, Butter and Jam Pudding!

We were bakers today! We made bread, butter and jam pudding. See if you see how we made it.

While we were waiting for it to bake, we wrote about what we did.

All finished. Time to eat - yum!

Our New Underwater Toy Box!

The sandpit toys had a new box to live in, so we got the old box in Moana to store our dress ups and cushions in.

It was an ugly, light green box, so we changed it!

After giving the box a clean, we painted the outside of it to look like the sea. We used sponges and acrylic paint.

Last week, we had made some fish for a library display. We had made two fish each, so the left-over fish were saved for this box.

But there is more than just fish underwater! We also made seaweed and bubbles.

It was time then to glue these carefully onto the toy box. We used PVA glue.

To keep things shiny, we painted over everything with PVA glue afterwards.

Now our box holds our toys and looks AMAZING! Do you like it?
