Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter

We were talking about seasons because we saw that the leaves on the trees are starting to go brown.

We also read the book called, ‘You Make Me Smile’, by Layn Marlow. In the book, it showed us a picture of the four seasons.

Every year, we get Spring, then Summer, Autumn, then Winter.

We tried drawing a tree in each season with pastels, then used dye to complete our pictures. They turned out so well!

My favourite season is Summer because I like swimming in our river. - Max

I like Spring because baby animals are so cute. - Charlie

I like Autumn because the leaves are blowing off the trees. - Kristian

My favourite one is Winter because I like building snowmen and having sled rides. - Obed

I like Autumn because we go swimming in the hot pools. - Emily

I like Winter because of snow. I don’t get to see snow any more. - Freddi

Cakes fit for Kings and Queens!

We had a cake day in Moana today!

We read The King's Cake by Jill Eggleton, but before we read it, we imagined what kind of cakes we would have if we were kings and queens. We wrote about them and then drew them.

Then we read the story. It was funny because the king couldn't blow out all his birthday candles!

After this, it was time to make our own special cakes - PANCAKES! We worked together and used the 111 recipe to make our pancakes - 1 egg, 1 cup of self-raising flour and 1 cup of milk. (You can use any flour and any kind of milk.)

We chose our toppings, and mmmmmm, they were yummy to eat!

With full tummies, we completed our cake art. We painted some, coloured some and glued on bits to make our cakes look extra yummy. Have a look at the work we did. Doesn't it make you hungry and want to eat like a king or queen?

What Makes Us Happy?

Today, we read Sad, the Dog, by Sandy Fussell. We talked about what made the dog happy and we thought about what makes us happy. Then we made these awesome pictures and descriptions of the things that make us happy.

What makes YOU happy?

We have been learning about dancing through the decades.

Check out the great masterpieces Moana class have produced about self-portrait dancers.

Welcome back to Term 4. We are working very hard on our literacy in Moana.

The students are really trying hard to remember all the rules for spelling.

Here is a sample of all their amazing writing.
